FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ARTIFICIAL TURF

DuraTurf gives us the cutting edge on artificial lawn

Q:        Does it look like real grass?

A:        DuraTurf looks and feels just like real grass and even has blades of different lengths and densities, just like different grass species.

Q:        Is it only for gardens?

A:        No. DuraTurf can be used to transform any area you wish. From that shady patch where the grass won’t grow, to your verandah, backyard or swimming pool, between the driveway or stepping stones, in your kids playroom or even your landscaped garden, there are eleven different ranges of DuraTurf suited to specific areas.

Q:        Is it suitable for outdoor entertaining?

A:        Yes, it’s perfect for that! Spills and dirt can be washed away with normal water. Never use solvents and please refer harsh chemical stains to the manufacturers. Burns from cigarettes or hot coals from a braai should be removed as soon as possible and may discolour the grass. These can be professionally repaired but should be referred to your installer.

Q:        Is it safe for my kids?

A:        Yes. DuraTurf is safe for children and pets. It’s made from an anti-allergenic polyethylene that’s non-slip, anti-allergenic and provides a soft surface in the event of slips and falls. What’s more, there’ll be no more grass burns as it’s the same material used for artificial soccer pitches.

Q:        Will my pets ruin it?

A:        No. Just like any garden surface, DuraTurf will collect dirt from environmental exposure and from being walked upon. Simply scoop up any mess or dirt as you would with normal grass. Sweep with a soft-bristled garden broom to restore flattened blades to their upright position.

Q:        Can it be installed on any surface?

A:        DuraTurf can be installed on any flat, even surface such as concrete, stone or tar. The substrate should be flat, stable, well-condensed and preferably porous to allow for drainage. If the sub-soil is not sufficiently condensed it may shift and settle later causing irregularities in the artificial lawn.

  • Belgotex’s visionary new Design Centre reimagines the possibilities of a flooring showroom

Belgotex Floors has reinvented the showroom experience with their newly-launched Belgotex Design Centre in Century City, Cape Town. The world-class Design Centre is an all-new concept offering the public and industry professionals a creative space where they can get an inspiring look at the full Belgotex range along with superior expertise from the on-site team.

The space will act as an inspiration hub, showcasing the brand’s flooring solutions and application possibilities in a design-led environment. It also provides a working space for professionals to meet with clients as part of the design development and specification journey. Additionally, Belgotex are developing a programme of trend talks and events for the public and industry in the space.

“We have always prided ourselves in leading by design and being the first to introduce the latest flooring technology to South Africa,” says Edward Colle, Executive Director of Belgotex Floors. “The Design Centre is an example of this innovative, design-first thinking and is an exceptional, pioneering space in the South African flooring market. Unlike many traditional showrooms, the environment is welcoming and easy to navigate, allowing our customers to rethink the way that they see and choose flooring.”

Designed by ITI, a Durban-based brand development and creative agency, the Belgotex Design Centre is just over 300m2 and includes a contemporary showroom area and elevated textile concept gallery, a coffee bar, boardroom and mezzanine office space for Belgotex’s Cape Town-based professional team. Architects, interior designers and other creative professionals are encouraged to either explore the space alone or meet with their clients at the Centre – where they can choose between the informal coffee bar or the boardroom, which they can book for more formal meetings.

“The idea behind the new showroom was to put flooring first. It’s such an integral aspect of any space and it is often overlooked until the end of the design process,” adds Colle.  “Flooring has such a huge impact on the aesthetic and sensory impression of a space, that starting with it first is a more human, tactile approach.”

The space is inspired by life lived close to the ground as in Japanese culture. This informs a design concept characterised by horizontal planes and facets, where the flooring is elevated and honoured for its integrity. The showroom has been conceived of as somewhere more like a public space, where you can pause and spend time being inspired, rather than just transacting. Because of this, the Belgotex products are displayed in such a way that they can be appreciated and can spark creativity – from the “gallery” approach to textile concepts to the bespoke plinth displays showcasing the different ranges.

Once people have been informed and inspired by their experience at the centre, the Belgotex team will then refer customers to the best fitter for their needs. This makes the fulfilment process seamless for both professionals and the public, and removes the guess work of finding vetted suppliers. Existing Belgotex stockists can also bring their customers to the space to choose the perfect products for their space.

Belgotex has been revered for its quality carpets and flooring solutions for over 30 years. From humble beginnings as Natal Nylon Industries in 1983 to a member of the multinational Belgotex International Group with seven companies over four continents, Belgotex Floors has developed into the leading soft flooring manufacturer in Africa. The brand has over 80 ranges of different flooring options for indoors and out, including carpeting, vinyl, artificial grass, underlays and rubber.

The Belgotex Design Centre can be found in the Matrix at Century City, adjacent to the Century City Conference Centre and hotel. It is open from 08h00 to 18h00, Monday to Friday, and 09h00 to 13h00 on Saturdays. Design professionals can book the boardroom by contacting Renee at the Design Centre on 021 763 6900.

  • Make It Yours

Transforming a house into a home is one of the most rich and rewarding journeys of every person’s life. A home is a mirror of your best self; your hopes, memories, quirks and loves. But all too often on the journey to building the perfect home, the bathroom gets left behind.

Sometimes, you make the mistake of treating it as merely functional, forgetting to carry through your home’s overall style. Other times, you’ve been living in your home so long that the beautiful bathroom that matched your younger self no longer reflects who you are. The bathroom shouldn’t be a small space wedged in between living areas, or at the very corner of your home – something to be ashamed of and banished from the rest of the living space.

Why should your bathroom not speak to the person you are as much as every other space in the house? You deserve to have a bathroom where your sense of self radiates from corner to corner, tile to tile.

It’s time to infuse your personality into your bathroom. It’s time to #MakeItYours.

Tile Africa believes that everyone deserves to live in a space that speaks to who they are. View our amazing specials on tiles and bathroom ware and make your bathroom yours.

Tile Africa will be giving away a R30 000 voucher to spend on your ultimate bathroom. All you have to do is upload a picture of your current bathroom, as well as what you want your dream bathroom to look like, on Tile Africa’s #MakeItYours page. There’s also a R2 500 voucher up for grabs every second week.

Are you ready to make your bathroom yours? Find out more about our competition here: www.tileafrica.co.za/makeityours
